Woman arrested in connection with robbery of Japanese Nationals

The police on Wednesday arrested a female in connection with Robbery Under Arms committed on three Japanese Nationals and taxi driver, 38-year-old Abdool Rahim of Canal No. 2, West Bank Demerara (WBD).

On Tuesday, August 09, 2016, the three Japanese nationals along with the taxi driver were robbed by males armed with handguns at Ogle Seawall, East Coast Demerara (ECD).

The victims who are on holiday here went sightseeing when the incident occurred.

They were robbed of two video cameras valued $560,000.00, one laptop valued $300,000.00, $820,000.00 cash, four cellular phones valued $300,000.00 and twenty-three video tapes valued $106,000.00.

The perpetrators escaped in a motor car without any registration number plate, police investigations revealed.

A woman was arrested on Tuesday with one of the stolen articles. She is in police custody assisting with the investigation.
