According to Adjodhea “the opening ceremony will kick off at 5:30pm and we are expecting the president to be here to deliver the feature address and of course we have lots of entertainment for the other nights, live bands every night with lots to eat and drink.”

He added that also at the opening ceremony the Central Corentyne Chamber of Commerce will be awarding the top five students at this year’s National Grade Six Assessment (NGSA).

Among the participants of this year’s Expo is a Non-Governmental Organisation, Caribbean Voice. President of the Chamber, Mohamed Rafeek who was also present during the tour, highlighted that the NGO will provide literature and shows to help address the suicide epidemic in Berbice.

“As you know we from the Central Corentyne Chamber of Commerce, we are very supportive of any activity that will help us get rid of this scourge of suicide and domestic violence,” he said.

Unlike the previous years where a combination of local and foreign exhibitors was featured, this year’s expo will only focus on local entrepreneurs; giving them an opportunity to showcase and promote their skills.

The theme for this year’s Exposition and Trade Fair is “Promoting entrepreneurship for a diversified economy.”
