Suspect arrested in connection with murder of 14-year-old girl

Ranks of the Guyana Police Force this morning have apprehended the prime suspect in relation to the alleged murder of Malika Hamilton of Ann’s Grove, East Coast Demerara (E.C.D.)

The body of 14-year-old Hamilton was found on August 09, 2016, in the Hope Canal, E.C.D.

The suspect, who managed to elude the Police in the past, was found hiding in a barrel in the Ann’s Grove cemetery.

Hamilton’s body was discovered floating in a canal at Hope, ECD on Tuesday last, one day after she went missing.

The former student of the Hope Secondary School went missing late Monday afternoon. Reports are the young woman was last seen in the company of two boys.

Following the discovery of her body, several young women in the community of Hope, East Coast Demerara, have blamed the alleged murder on a lone criminal who haunts the cemetery. The women all shared experiences of being tormented by the man.
