Men charged with murdering 13-year-old boy
27-year-old Raymond Wong and 20-year-old Kevin Sahoye were today charged with the murder of 13-year-old Davanand Sanchar. Wong is an electrician while Sahoye works as a mason.
The boy was chopped and beaten at a wedding at Plantain Walk Access Road, Triumph, East Coast Demerara (E.C.D.) around 23:30hrs on Sunday after an argument ensued over a female.
The court heard that the boy danced behind one of the man’s aunt while at the function and this led to the altercation.
The men were not required to plead to the charge. They were remanded until September 13, 2016.
The police on Monday stated that investigations revealed that following the altercation, the 13-year-old left and returned with a cutlass which was followed by a further argument and one of the men took away the cutlass and dealt him (the deceased) a chop to his head. It was added that whilst on the ground, he was given a severe beating with a stick.
However, News Room previously spoke to the mother of the deceased, 27-year-old, Sookdai Sanchar who shared a different story.
She noted that the family was at a wedding house when a friend of the deceased beckoned him to go outside saying “someone was calling him.” She said shortly after she received word that her son was lying on the roadway in pool of blood.
