Ex-police found with unlicensed firearm and live rounds


Ranks attached to the Patrol in Berbice intercepted a car bearing license plate number PNN 9422 at the weekend where two .32 Revolvers were found and 12 live rounds.


Following the receipt of information, the ranks were conducting a road block in front the No 51 Police Station on Saturday evening when the car was stopped.


There were two occupants in the vehicle, the driver along with another male. A search was conducted where a .32 revolver was found on the driver and another .32 Revolver was discovered together with 12 live rounds in the vehicle.


News Room was told by Police Sources that the car was travelling from Georgetown and to the Corentyne.


After some investigations, it was revealed that the driver of 9422 who the gun was found on is an ex Police Rank of the Guyana Police Force and the firearm was licensed, however, the other gun that was found was an unlicensed firearm.


Both the men are currently in Police custody assisting with investigations.
