Former Special Branch Head and Crime Chief, Assistant Commissioner of Police Leslie James will from Thursday, September 1 take up the command of the police ‘D’ Division.

That Division stretches along the right bank of the Demerara River and takes up a large portion of Region 3 and other surrounding areas.

James would be heading the division in the absence of Senior Superintendent Steven Mansell, who is proceeding on annual leave effective  Thursday, September 1.

This was announced by Assistant Commissioner of Police David Ramnarine who is performing the duties of Commissioner of Police.

At the moment there are several  senior police officers who are out of the system on annual leave. Among those presently on leave are Commissioner of Police Seelall Persaud,  Assistant Commissioner of Police Brian Joseph, Commander of  ‘A’ Division Clifton Hicken, and Senior Superintendent Wendell Blanhum.

The absence of those senior officers has seen a shifting around of several other senior police officers who are holding the substantive posts for those who are on leave.
