Foo scores hundred before rain intervenes

Rain affected the two Berbice games in the Guyana Cricket Board’s Jaguars Franchise League Three-Day competition, but the time was enough for Jonathon Foo to notch up his second hundred of the tournament.

 

Rajendra Chandrika, Amir Khan, Assad Fudadin and Tagenarine Chanderpaul were also among the runs with half-centuries, while Kamesh Yadram and Romario Shepherd bagged five-wicket hauls.

At the Albion Community Centre, the rain came at 11:40h and the second day’s play was abandoned at approximately 13:30h.

 

Lower Corentyne resuming on 123-3 in reply to 212 set by Georgetown, reached 249-6 with Foo making 127, David Latcha 29 and Hakeem Hinds 19. Sharaz Ramsarran and Veerasammy Permaul are unbeaten on 19 and 14 respectively heading into today’s final day.

 

At Young Warriors Cricket Club, Essequibo resuming at 111-8 managed 117 all out in reply to West Berbice’s score of 171.
West Berbice batting a second time reached 98-2, with Shimron Hetmyer contributing with 35. The rain came at approximately 11:40h and the second day’s play was abandoned at approximately 16:35h. West Berbice’s lead is now 152.

 

Meanwhile, at Enterprise, East Coast Demerara, resuming on their overnight score of 129-6 with Rajendra Chandrika on 31 and Amir Khan on 14, made 227 with Chandrika making 69 and Amir Khan finishing on 58 not out.

 

Kamesh Yadram and Baskar Yadram made 46 and 26 on the first day. Troy Gonsalves and Shawn Perreira had identical figures of 3-34, while Eon Hooper claimed 3-36.

 

In their second turn at the crease, Upper Corentyne tallied 194 with Assad Fudadin stroking 70, while Anthony Bramble and Shawn Perriera contributed 36 and 20 not out respectively. Bowling for East Coast Demerara, Kamesh Yadram returned with the ball to bag 5-34, while Vivian Albert supported with 3-57. East Coast Demerara closed the day on 33-1, chasing 116 for an outright victory.

 

At Everest, West Demerara claimed a first innings lead of 97 after they dismissed East Bank Demerara for 160. Stefan Browne top scored with 37, while Vishaul Singh and Ershard Ali both scored 28. Romario Shephard was the pick of the bowlers, claiming 5-32. Rishi Looknauth had 3-57, while Raymon Reifer 2-27.

 

West Demerara, in their second innings, closed the day on 164-4. Tagenarine Chanderpaul scored a well composed 75 being he was dismissed just before close of play. Play continues today (Sunday), starting at 09:30h.
