Police Constable on bail for chopping colleague

A young Police Officer found himself on the other side of the law after he allegedly chopped a colleague at the Felix Austin Police College on Friday, September 02, 2016.

 

28-year-old Dwayne De Santos of Georgetown appeared before Magistrate Rabindranauth Singh at the Mibicuri Magistrates Court on Wednesday, September 07, 2016 to answer to the charge of Unlawful Wounding of Sherwin Brush. He pleaded not guilty to the charge.

 

The court heard that on the day in question, the suspect and complainant who are both students of the Police College had a misunderstanding which turned physical.

 

De Santos later armed himself with a cutlass and inflicted injuries on his colleague. He was subsequently arrested.

 

After hearing the case, the Magistrate granted the accused bail in the sum of $30,000 and asked to return to the Whim Magistrates Court on September 19, 2016.
