Reifer scores hundred after West Berbice routed for 30

West Berbice folded for an embarrassing 30 all out against West Demerara on day one of the third round of the Guyana Cricket Board’s Jaguars Franchise League Three-day competition on Thursday at the Cumberland ground.

 

Raymond Reifer followed up his two wickets with a quick-fire hundred as West Demerara raced to 276-5 by the close, a massive lead of 246.

 

One other game was possible in Berbice, while the other two in Georgetown were affected by rain. Below are the summarised scores from the games.

At Cumberland, the West Demerara lads were routed for 30 as Rishi Looknauth bagged 4-10, Romario Shephard 3-11 and Raymon Reifer 2-5. At the close, West Demerara reached 276-5 with Reifer leading the way, smashing 119 off just 121 balls. Akshya Persaud scored 74 and Safraz Esau struck 53 off 41 balls. Leon Andrews has so far taken 2-55, bowling for West Berbice.

 

At Port Mourant, Lower Corentyne made 162 after winning the won the toss and electing to bat first. Surujnarine Kandasammy struck 62, while Jonathan Foo and Gajanand Singh contributed 22 and 20 respectively. Bowling for Upper Corentyne, Eon Hooper bagged 5-18. At the close, Upper Corentyne managed to reach 133-5, 29 runs behind, with Rajiv Ivan scoring 62.

 

At Everest, play was called off at 12:32h, due to rain. Essequibo won the toss and elected to bat, reaching 8-1 with Shivnarine Chanderpaul on one not out and Avinash Persaud on one not out. Kevin Boodie was the batsman to be dismissed, leg before to Ryan Shun for five.

 

At the GCC ground, Bourda, play between Georgetown and East Coast Demerara was called off without a ball being bowled.
