Corentyne businesswoman busted with marijuana

The Police in ‘B’ Division have arrested a 36-year-old female in connection with the discovery of a quantity of marijuana at her Corentyne home on Saturday, September 10,2016.

Elena Bourne of Chesney squatting area was arrested at about 15:15 hours by ranks who raided the home following information received.

News Room was informed that ranks conducted a search for arms, ammunition and drugs during which they found a container with two plastic bags. Upon opening the bags, a quantity of foil-wrapped parcels containing leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be marijuana were discovered.

Bourne was told of the offence committed, cautioned, arrested and taken to the Whim police station where the marijuana was weighed in her presence and amounted to 450 grams.

The businesswoman will remain at the Whim Police station lock-ups pending charges.
