Anthony, Niles win weekend cycling
Michael Anthony and Junior Niles emerged champions of the two weekend races organised by national cycling coach Hassan Mohamed in partnership with the Carlton Wheelers Cycle Club.
Anthony won the feature 35-lap race at the 16th annual 11-race programme sponsored by DeSinco Trading under its Degree brand on Saturday, while Niles won the sixth annual Powerade road race on Sunday in West Demerara.
On Saturday, Anthony won the race in one hour, 17 minutes, 38.49 seconds ahead of Raphael Leung, Paul deNobrega, Christopher Griffith, Niles and Paul Choo Wee Nam in that order.
Griffith won four of the eight sprint prizes on offer with Anthony collecting two, and Niles and deNobrega one each.

Meanwhile, on Sunday Niles won from Christopher Holder, deNobrega, Ralph Williams, Hicks and Leung in that order. That race started at Wales, proceeded to Uitvlugt and returned to the Demerara Harbour Bridge for the finish.
