The police are investigating the alleged murder of a 34-year-old man of Unity, East Coast Demerara which occurred last night.
Omesh Chetram was allegedly murdered sometime between 23:30hrs on Saturday and 01:30hrs. Sunday morning, at Bourda and Alexander Streets, Georgetown.
Enquiries disclosed that the deceased had an argument with a male, during which the suspect stabbed him in the lower region of his abdomen with a knife and escaped, the police said.
He was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital where a doctor pronounced him dead on arrival.
The suspect has not yet been arrested.
