Second juvenile recaptured at Corentyne

Another of the male juveniles who escaped from the Juvenile Holding Centre, at Sophia has been recaptured according to the Guyana Police Force (GPF).

News Room reported on Saturday that three juveniles from Essequibo, Georgetown and Berbice escaped from the facility at around 5:00hrs on Saturday. The trio was only taken to the centre on Friday for robbery under arms, simple larceny and break and enter and larceny.

The first was recaptured at Rose Hall Town, Corentyne on Saturday, while the second was recaptured last evening.

The second juvenile was recaptured at Tain Settlement, Corentyne, Berbice at around 19:15h. last night, based on information received from the public, the police said.

Efforts are being made to have the other recaptured.

The police had stated that “they allegedly dug a hole in the lower flat and scaled the fence.”

The centre falls under the purview of the Ministry of Public Security and is supervised by the Guyana Police Force.
