    The police in Berbice have arrested three men in connection with the discovery of 4,309 grams of marijuana in the motor car they were occupants of on September 12, 2016.

     

    The three arrested are bartender, 19-year-old Darnel Wills of lot 71 Norton Street Lodge Georgetown, a welder, 21-year-old Vivian Decanao of lot 138 Tucber Park New Amsterdam and 23-year-old Tony Reid of lot 10 Bestsy Ground Village Corentyne Berbice.

     

    According to information reaching the News Room, it was about 23:20 hours while traffic officers were on patrol at the 51 Village on the Corentyne that they stopped a silver grey 212 motor car bearing registration number PRR 654 which was proceeding South along the public road with three occupants acting in a suspicious manner.

    This publication was told that the men were stopped and order to drive the motor car into the #51 Police Station Compound where a search was conducted on their person and the vehicle in their presence during which the officer observed five black plastic bags containing a quantity of leave, seeds and stems suspected to marijuana.

     

    The items were weighed in the presence of the three men and amounted to 4,309 grams.

     

    News Room understands that the three men were told of the offence committed, cautioned and they denied having any knowledge of the substance.

     

    The three men re presently in police custody pending charges.
