Winner of ‘The Spotlight’ to receive $2.5M in cash; 15 contestants including groups shortlisted
Several sponsors are on board for this year’s leg of ‘The Spotlight’ talent competition, including Stag Beer, That Look Boutique and Johnny Rockets.
The show is debuting on television from October 5 and will be aired every Wednesday on E1 from 20:00hrs or 8:00pm.
This year it will include various talents such as singing, dancing and live painting and organizers promise that it is the best talent show in Guyana.
Red Entertainment is collaborating with E-Networks in the venture.
Fifteen contestants inclusive of individuals and groups, have been shortlisted following three rounds of intense competition.
Host of the show Faizal khan speaking during the launch on Tuesday at the Giftland Mall expressed excitement and thanked the contestants for their efforts. He said it is time for Guyanese to shine, noting that it has been a long time coming.
Christian Sobers, Russel Lancaster and Alana Seebarran are the 2016 judges, while Sean Thompson will be the backstage host of the highly anticipated event.
Offering brief remarks, Mr. Lancaster said viewers can look forward to performances from what could be considered the “cream of the crop” of the over 100 persons who auditioned to participate.
He is looking forward to the participants giving of their best after they would have sharpened their skills over the various rounds of the auditions.
The winner of the competition will leave with 2.5 million dollars in cash and the organizers are calling on the participants to bring their ‘A’ games.

The first competition that will be opened to the public will be held on this Friday, September 16 at the Parking lot next to the Lucky Dollar store on Camp and Regent Streets at 15:00hrs or 3:00 pm.
