UPDATE; Body of 25-year-old found

The body of 25-year-old Elroy Lewis who allegedly drowned in the Berbice River on Tuesday was this morning recovered.

 

According to information reaching News Room, a body was seen in the Savannah Park area of the Berbice River earlier on Thursday (September 15, 2016), after which the Coast guards in the area were subsequently alerted.

 

After closer inspection, the body believed to be of the young man was fished up in the said area and taken to the P. Arokium Funeral Parlor.

 

According to the Commander of ‘B’ Division, Ian Amsterdam, the body bears no mark of violence.

 

A Post Mortem is expected today (Thursday, September 15, 2016).

 

The 25-year-old block maker of Lot 72 Sisters Village, Berbice was on an outing with friends; Javid Mohamed, Noel De Cuna, Ramnarine Mangroo and Rambally Chan at about 15:00 hours on Tuesday, when he allegedly plunged from the boat they were occupying and drowned.

 

The friends have since been taken into custody to assist with investigations.
