A couple of Bristol Street, Cumberland Village, East Canje Berbice was robbed of cash, jewellery and other valuables in the wee hours of Wednesday morning.

News Room visited the home of the young couple and spoke to one of the victims, 27-year-old Navindra Singh.

Singh said he was at home with his wife and 3-year-old son when he heard a noise at the back door of his home at around 2am. Upon checking, he and his wife were confronted by the five men who demanded cash, jewellery and other valuables, he said.

News Room understands that one of the men had already entered the house through a window and opened the door for the others to enter.

According to Singh, the men were all masked and sported guns and cutlasses.

The man said in an effort to ensure that the men did not harm his family, he told the bandits, “take wat yall want but don’t do we nothing,” after which he led them to the money located in the wardrobe.

The traumatised couple related that the bandits escaped with 2 gold chains, Singh’s wedding ring, jewellery belonging to the three-year-old, $40,000 in cash, 2 Samsung Galaxy cell phones and a tablet. The items were estimated to be a total of $500,000.

The bandits reportedly escaped through the backyard, but not before defecating in the couple’s yard.
