A fisherman of Lot 23 No.2 Village, West Coast Berbice (W.C.B) is contemplating his next move, after bandits escaped with a 40 Horsepower  (HP) Yamaha Outboard engine worth $1M on Wednesday,  September 21, 2016, that he uses to make a living.

News Room understands that between 4:00 hours and 5:00 hours on Tuesday (September 20, 2016), 42-year-old Abdul Kadir secured his fishing boat along with the engine at the Rosignol ferry wharf as usual, and left to go home.

However, Kadir said that “yesterday morning when we come fuh go sell fish, the watchman call me and tell meh that bandit thief ah boat, he said when he went inside to carry a chair and return he see the man dem driving off with the boat.”

According to Kadir, he along with other fishermen went in search of the vessel and its engine but only found the boat abandoned in the Berbice River.

The fisherman noted that this is the first time he has experienced a robbery and is calling for more security and lighting facilities at the wharf.

“Them security that does wuk here them man dis old wah does wuk here so if anytime anyone come pon dem man dis, they ain’t get nothing to defend themselves, not even a torch light when blackout come on” he said.

So far the police have questioned several persons but no useful information was provided.

    Investigations are ongoing.
