UG Graduate killed in Trinidad accident

Twenty-Six-year-old Rejendra Persaud of Vreed –En Hoop, a former student of the West Demerara Secondary School and 2014 graduate of the University of Guyana, was killed in an accident early this morning in Trinidad.

 

According to reports out of Trinidad, the young Medical Technology graduate and a friend were travelling along the Sir Solomon Hochoy highway, when a vehicle driven by a driver suspected to be under the influence of alcohol breached the median and ended up in their path.

 

The unfortunate incident caused both vehicles to flip violently along the roadway killing the Guyanese University graduate and his friend instantly while the errant driver remained alive. He is said to be in the custody of the police on that island.

 

The Trinidad media is reporting that when emergency crews including police ranks arrived on the scene of the accident, they got a strong stench of alcohol on the breath of the errant driver that caused them believe he was imbibing before the accident.
