A man is now dead and another seriously injured after an accident in the Abary Creek, Region Five at 19:00 hrs on Monday evening. While the dead man is still to be identified, sustaining serious injuries is Conward Williams.
Information remains sketchy but News Room understands that the men were standing behind a canter truck which was being used to provide light to vehicles crossing the river on a pontoon. It is alleged that the canter shifted in position as a result of the hand brakes not being applied, pinning the men to the ground.
Both men were transported to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital where one was pronounced dead on arrival.
Williams was eventually transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital.
Details to follow.
