The National Commission on Disability (NCD) has commenced a countrywide survey of which results will be used to enhance the commission’s strategies and programmes to benefit persons with disabilities.
During the period September to November 2016, the NCD will be carrying out its first phase of National Survey on Persons with Disability (NSPD). The survey recently commenced in region six. When completed, the information collected will be used to enhance the implementation of the commission’s strategies and the execution of its projects and programmes.
According to one of the NCD officers who is collecting the information, the national survey will gather information on the types of disabilities, education and employment opportunities, resource availability and access to social services to those persons.
The survey is a comprehensive data collection exercise to gather information and therefore persons with disabilities and their care providers in Berbice are urged to take the opportunity to participate in the exercise.
The Commission promised that all information provided on the survey will be kept confidential.
