Senior Management of the Guyana Sugar Corporation (GuySuCo) on Monday met with workers of the Rose Hall estate and their Union representatives, to address their concerns relating to payment.

The meeting followed strike action which began on Wednesday, September 28, 2016, after workers of the Rose Hall Estate were told by manager Yudi Persaud that they would not receive their full payments unless their assigned duties were completed each day.

The workers related that the Management of the Estate suddenly demanded that the workers complete certain quantum of work in order for them to receive their compensatory payments.

This did not sit well with the workers.

The decision was reversed at Monday’s meeting where the workers were told that they will receive their payments as was previously done. This was well received by the representatives of the workers.

Over 979 workers took part in the strike.

The workers are expected to return to work on Tuesday, October 04, 2016.
