A resident of Central Amelia’s Ward Linden was remanded to prison earlier today when he appeared in the Linden Magistrates Court to answer a gun and ammunition charge.

25-year-old Eon Ward pleaded not guilty to the charge when it was read to him by Magistrate Clive Nurse.

The court heard that the accused who was recently sentenced in absentia for a total of five years, having been charged with robbery under arms and unlawful possession of firearm and ammunition was arrested by ranks of the Guyana Police Force, at his home on Monday, October 03, 2016.

However, before the accused was taken into custody a search was conducted on his home during which officers discovered an unlicensed 9mm Ruger semi-automatic pistol with seven matching rounds.
