The police in ‘D’ Division have arrested a man in connection with the murder of Tuschen, East Bank Essequibo taxi driver, Rolan Joodie aka Vishal, who was robbed and shot on Tuesday evening.

According to Divisional Commander and Assistant Commissioner of Police, Leslie James, the 21-year-old man was picked up on Thursday morning.

The Assistant Commissioner says the man is claiming that he is a taxi driver in the Tuschen area, however, he is not being considered a taxi driver by the police since the vehicle that he drives is a private car. The suspect was reportedly seen in the area shortly after the taxi driver was found dead two nights ago.

The body of ‘Vishal’ was found in his car with gunshots wounds shortly after he was seen taking two passengers into the Tuschen Housing Scheme. His cell phone and personal items were missing.

A post-mortem conducted on the remains of the man on Friday found that he died as a result of gunshot wounds. It was also confirmed that he was shot twice.
