Peacemaker hospitalised after being stabbed several times

A Hire Car driver is now a patient at the New Amsterdam Public Hospital after being stabbed several times about his body at Phillipe Farm, Corentyne last night.

 

News Room understands that 34-year-old Bhadwant Gharbhann was stabbed to his head and ribs by a man in the area following a misunderstanding.

 

According to information received, at about 23:30 hours on Friday, October 07, 2016, Gharbhann was imbibing at a shop at Phillipe Farm, Corentyne, Berbice where the suspect whose name was given as Dwayne Phillips had an argument with another individual.

 

It is alleged that Gharbhann tried to intervene and told Phillips to “behave” himself. This annoyed Phillips who whisked out a knife and dealt Gharbhann a stab to his head and another to his ribs.

 

Public spirited citizens informed the police at the Whim Police Station who visited the scene and rushed the victim to the Port Mourant Hospital where he was seen by a doctor and later transferred to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital after his condition was deteriorating.

 

The suspect has not yet been arrested.

 

Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
