Anns Grove man killed after mining pit collapsed

Keon Wilson of Anns Grove, East Coast Demerara lost his life on Saturday afternoon after a mining pit in which he was working at Rock Creek, Puruni, caved in.

The News Room has been informed that Wilson along with several other men were working at a location at Rock Creek when the walls of the pit caved in.

The other men managed to escape, however, Wilson was unfortunately pinned down. He was later pulled from among the rubble and taken to the Bartica Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police from the ‘F’ Division are enroute to the location to commence investigations.
