According to eyewitnesses, three men dressed in black, armed with guns and cutlasses entered the Lai Li Restaurant demanding cash.
News Room was told that one of the men entered the restaurant and proceeded to demand cash and valuables from the owners of the establishment. It is unclear how much cash the men were able to confiscate, however, a cellphone was taken from one of the employees; Sangeeta Lall.
Speaking with News Room, Lall said the men stormed into the restaurant with guns while she was sitting in the restaurant and demanded her phone which she had in her possession. The woman added that the owners of the restaurant, however, who were behind the counter, ran to the back of the building.
Efforts to speak to the owners of the restaurant proved futile.
Persons who were imbibing at a club nearby rushed out to assist but one of the bandits reportedly ordered the men to move and he cranked his weapon to open fire.
The men then escaped through an alleyway located opposite the restaurant.
The police were subsequently summoned to the scene.
NewsRoom understands this is the third robbery at the Chinese restaurant in recent times.
