Businessman robbed by three armed men

A businessman and his son were last evening attacked and robbed by three bandits armed with guns at Islington East Bank Berbice (E.B.B).

 

News Room understands that the businessman, 49-year-old Deonarine Albert, and his son 22-year-old Royaryo Albert were attacked by the armed men as they were entering their yard after returning home from New Amsterdam where they operate a business.

 

According to one of the victims Deonarine Albert, the incident occurred at about 18:30 hours while his son was about to close the gate after driving the motorcar into the yard.

 

He said, “as my son was about to close the gate one man attack he and lash he on he head with ah shine gun and he fall down pon the ground.”

 

The man who was still in the motor car at this point added that the other bandits turned their attention to him and pulled him out of the vehicle.

 

They relieved him of an undisclosed sum of cash and entered the car with his accomplices and drove away.

 

Albert who owns an electronic store added that at the time the motor car had inside, a quantity of phone card, two laptops, four cellular phones and other items amounting to over one million dollars.

 

The Guyana Police Force said the motor car and two of five cell phones were recovered.

 

The car was later lodged at the Central Police station as police continuing their investigation.

 

The suspects have not yet been apprehended.
