Developing Story: Brazilian national killed, gold missing

The Police in ‘F’ Division are investigating the circumstances surrounding the apparent robbery and murder of a Brazilian national whose body was found on a dam, at Port Kaituma, Region One.

 

The News Room was told that the incident took place on Thursday in the Port Kaituma area after the man called “Goodie” (only name given) left a mining camp where he and several other miners did their “wash down” and were paid in gold for their work.

 

Sources within the area indicated that the man had approximately eight ounces of gold in his possession at the time; all of which is missing.

 

There is also a wound on the man’s body which appears to be a gunshot wound.

 

The police were sent into the Backdam on Thursday and are expected out later today after interviewing the man’s colleagues.

 

Divisional Commander, Rabindranauth Budhram who spoke to News Room this morning, is also en route to the location.
