14- year- old and accomplice to be charged with murder of Mahaicony businesswoman

The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) today gave the Police in ‘C’ Division the go ahead to charge a 14-year-old and his 24-year-old accomplice for the murder of a Mahaicony businesswoman who was brutally murdered in her home on Monday, October 17,2016.

 

According to a reliable police source, the files were prepared and sent to the DPP chambers earlier today and was later returned informing investigators to lay the murder charges against the two accused.
During last week, the police managed to get a confession from the 24-year-old suspect who resides in Good Faith, Mahaicony, East Coast Demerara (E.C.D) as well as Rosignol, West Coast Berbice (W.C.B) while the 14-year-old suspect who lives in Good Faith Mahaicony continues to deny his involvement in the crime.

 

The two accused are expected to be arraigned before the Cove and John Magistrate on Tuesday, October 25, 2016.

 

This publication was told that the 14-year-old was arrested after neighbours informed the police that he and the businesswoman had a heated argument several days prior to her death over coconuts. However, the 24-year-old was later arrested after his name was mentioned as being in the company of the teen.

 

56-year-old Bibi Ally of lot 6 Novar, Mahaicony was discovered in her home by her nephew at about 6:00 hrs on Monday, October 17, 2016, with her hands and feet tied along with marks of violence about her body.
Presently it is not clear what is the motive behind the murder but when police arrived at the scene the entire house was ransacked.
