On Saturday, cycling action will take place at the inner circuit of the National Park, where national coach Hassan Mohamed will stage the fifth annual Payless Variety Store’s 11-race programme, starting at 09:00h.

As is usually the case with the 11-race programmes, the day’s activities will cater for all categories of riders, ranging from the six-year-olds to the Senior and Veterans.

The youngsters will compete in the BMX Boys 6-9, 9-12 and 12-14, followed the up and coming riders taking the track in the Junior/Juveniles and Mountain Bike races.

This will be followed by rivalry in the Veterans Over and Under-50 categories, which will set the stage for the day’s feature event- the gruelling 35-lap School Boys and Invitational.

Andrew Hicks of Berbice won the main event last year in a time of one hour, 26 minutes, seven seconds, while Nigel Duguid (Juveniles), Ian Jackson (Veterans Under-50), Sean Budhan (Mountain Bikes) and Ronaldo Narine (12-14 Boys and Girls) were some of the other category winners.

Representatives of Payless Variety Store are expected to assist in the presentation of prizes at the conclusion of the races.
