Woman nabbed with cocaine enroute to Suriname remanded to Prison

A Thirty-one-year-old, unemployed South Ruimveldt Gardens resident was this morning remanded to prison until December 14, 2016, after being nabbed with 668 grammes of cocaine yesterday at the No. 78 Foreshore, Corriverton, Berbice.

 

Enquiries disclosed that Senimelia Alizzia Lewis, of 84 Sugar Cane Street, South Ruimveldt Gardens, was an outgoing passenger enroute to Suriname, when she was observed by both police and Guyana Revenue Authority Enforcement Officers acting in a suspicious manner.

 

She was subjected to a search which uncovered the illegal substance strapped to her body.

 

She was arrested and charged with possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking and appeared before Magistrate Singh at the Springlands Magistrate’s Court this morning.
