The Police in Berbice have arrested a male neighbour of a Corentyne woman whose decapitated body was found in her home just after 10:00 hours today.
Dead is 53-year- old Bhulmattie Deolall of Belvedere, Corentyne.
News Room was told that the suspect, who recently came out of jail, chopped the woman’s head off in the presence of her 2 -year -old daughter before attempting to escape, leaving the mother of two lying in a pool of blood.
A sister of the deceased, Chandra Kumarie Hussain told reporters that she was at home when she received a phone call informing her of her sister’s death.
She said upon her arrival on the scene, her sister’s lifeless body was seen lying on the floor with blood smeared on the kitchen floor where the chopping took place.
According to Hussain her sister did not have any problems with anyone and was a peaceful person.
However, she disclosed that a male neighbour whose name was given as “Boyo” would usually abuse his mother and would sometimes turn his attention on her sister whenever she intervenes.
Although information surrounding the brutal murder is still sketchy, the police have since arrested the suspect who is assisting with investigations.
Meanwhile, investigators have cordoned off the area and are still at the scene questioning neighbours and relatives.
