Often times the importance of front desk workers and the way in which they interact with the public has been a major concern. As such, the Guyana Tourism Authority on Wednesday began training front desk workers from various businesses and organizations across the country.

The aim of the workshop is to improve Guyana’s first impression to visitors.

To this end, the body has organized a series of training sessions for workers in the service industry with Wednesday’s exercise focusing on those persons who work at the Front Desk.

During his remarks, GTA Director, Indranauth Haralsingh reminded participants of the adage of only having one chance to make a first impression.

Similarly, he says, the persons working the front desk at various businesses and organisations are the ones who give the first impression of Guyana which is why he says it is important that they deliver excellent service.

Mr. Haralsingh also noted the importance of continuous training of persons in the hospitality sector, adding that for this year more than 600 persons would have been trained in various aspects of tourism.

Tourism Awareness month is being celebrated with a packed agenda all being hosted under the theme “building partnerships for tourism development”
