The Police in ‘B’ Division are hunting for the owner of a motor vehicle that struck down a carpenter and left him to die on the #70 Public Road, Corentyne.

The incident occurred at about 15:45 hours on Tuesday, November 01, 2016

The dead man was identified as 26-year-old Faiyaz Narinedatt of #71 Village, Corentyne.

According to the acting commander of ‘B’ Division, Kevin Adonis, the police are yet to make any arrest in connection with the incident but noted that from all indication the victim was struck down by a motor vehicle.

News Room understands that Datt left his home at about 7:00 hours on Tuesday, October 31 to attend a function several villages away where he consumed alcohol and was so intoxicated that he was asked to leave. He then allegedly went to another function where he continued drinking alcohol.

According to a police source, the deceased after misbehaving was asked to leave the other event but while he was doing so fell into a drain and had to be picked up by villagers.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
