Labourer remanded for beheading Belvedere woman

A 39-year-old labourer of Belvedere, Corentyne, Berbice, was this morning remanded to prison for the murder of his 53-year-old neighbour, Bhumattie Delall.

Jainarine Balgobind on Monday appeared before Magistrate Alex Moore at the New Amsterdam Magistrates Court where he was not required to plea to charge when it was read to him.

The court heard that on Wednesday, November 02, 2016 brutally murdered Delall of Lot 351, 5th Street, South Belvedere, Corentyne, Berbice.

Investigations have so far revealed that the victim was standing in her yard, when the suspect armed with a cutlass, approached and dealt her several chops to her neck, severing her head from her body.

The News Room was told that the suspect then took the cutlass to a Mandir a short distance away, after which he went home. He was promptly arrested by investigators.

Following his court appearance today, Balgobind is expected to make another court appearance on December 12, 2016, at the Albion Magistrates Court.
