Two males, one of whom is a convicted felon on the run for robbery under arms, were this afternoon apprehended by ranks of the Guyana Police Force, in Eccles Housing Scheme, East Bank Demerara.
According to the police, at about 15:00hrs, the law enforcement authority received a call from a public-spirited citizen relating that the men were seen acting suspiciously in an abandoned house in neighbouring Republic Park.
The lawmen responded promptly and the men attempted to flee on foot, however, they were captured in Eccles.
One of the men was identified as 19-year-old Godfrey Lynch of Agricola, E.B.D, who had several brushes with the law and who was sentenced to fifty-six months imprisonment in absentia for an armed robbery. The other is a 22-year-old, Castello Housing Scheme resident who is said to be a prime suspect in two recent Gas Station robberies in Georgetown and Eccles.
The Guyana Police Force in a statement acknowledged “the excellent support” it is receiving from members of the public in its crime fighting strategies.
