Miner turns in gun and ammunition to police

A ballistic test is being conducted on a .22 semi-automatic pistol which was discovered along with a magazine and four live matching rounds at Konawaruk Backdam, Mahdia, to ascertain if it was used in the commission of any crime.

According to the police, the ammunition was found by a miner on Wednesday who was prospecting a plot of land, when he came across a bag containing the items.

The miner promptly handed over same to the police.
