In what could be a triangular love affair gone wrong, a 16-year-old Eccles lad is now in police custody after he stabbed a 22-year-old man from the same community to death last evening. The incident occurred at 2nd Avenue, Eccles housing Scheme, East Bank Demerara.

The News Room has been informed that the 16-year-old and the victim’s reputed wife were walking along the roadway when he was attacked.

According to information received, the teenager would normally accompany the man’s wife on her way home from work daily.

The man identified as and excavator operator; 22-year-old Imtaz Alli of BB Eccles, became aware of this, and he did not find it pleasing.

It is alleged that last evening, Alli decided to wait for the two and ran his car; PSS 2435 into the teenager who fell to the ground. The teen who was carrying a handbag belonging to Alli’s wife got up and ran away, however, Alli pursued him.

In that bag, the woman would usually walk with a 10 inch “Rambo Knife” and after realising that he was being followed, the teen whipped out the knife and inflicted a fatal stab to the neck of his aggressor. Alli collapsed and was rushed to Georgetown Public Hospital by a friend, but was pronounced dead on arrival.

The suspect has since been taken into custody. The alleged murder weapon was retrieved. The car which was used to run the teenager over is also lodged at the police station even as the investigations into the matter are ongoing.

The dead man and his reputed wife have been together for the past ten months.
