The Guyana Water Inc. (GWI) is offering consumers a chance to clear their debt and regularize their services with a special campaign for this Christmas season.

The campaign dubbed “connect and collect from GWI” will allow defaulters from November 21 to December 23, 2016, to become regularised without any penalties. Disconnected customers will benefit from a waiver of their reconnection fee, flexible payment plans, and cash rewards will be given to customers whose accounts are brought up to date.

Managing Director of GWI, Dr. Richard Van West-Charles highlighted the fact that persons utilise more water at this time of the year in preparation for Christmas. He also pointed to a possible hike in visitor arrivals, which will see a demand for water supply and GWI’s services in general.

Dr. Van West-Charles is therefore optimistic that this promotion will encourage customers to “enter into a relationship with GWI”, so as to ensure their accounts are up to date and that they stay connected.

According to Commercial and Customer Services, Executive Director Marlon Daniels, there are some other incentives for customers. Daniels said customers whose accounts are in order are now eligible to receive a reward of credit to their account. He also noted that as part of GWI’s conservation efforts, another reward will be the distribution of free float valves to customers who own storage tanks.

GWI’s Revenue Manager Ms. Malica Dowlin also highlighted the penalties that are in place for defaulters outside of this promotional period. Penalties range from $6,000 for reconnection to $50,000 for tampering.

“H2O Connect and Collect will run until December 24, 2016, after which there will be grand drawing at GWI’s regional offices countrywide.
