The police have arrested two persons in relation to the shooting earlier this afternoon at Hand in Hand Trust Incorporated located at Middle Street, Georgetown.

According to a police source, the two suspects are currently being questioned.

Two men stormed the building on Wednesday afternoon in an attempted robbery. During the incident, a female security guard was shot to the leg and has since been hospitalised.

Injured is 39-year-old Natasha Williams from 14 Sarah Lodge, Stewartville, West Coast Demerara, who is attached to the  ISS security service.

Blood stains were evident at the facade of the building while shattered louvres and a broken plant pot also littered the entrance.

The police were able to obtain the registration number on the vehicle used in the incident which they tracked to an address in Agricola. However, they have not located the owner and are still trying to ascertain if the vehicle was rented or stolen.

Persons in the area who heard the gunshots “ducked for cover” but were not willing to speak on the record about what they saw.

Following the incident, the business immediately closed its doors and completed transactions for persons who were already inside of the building.
