    The body of a Corentyne man was discovered by passersby hanging by a bed sheet in an abandoned house located in the Kilcoy Squatting Area, Corentyne, Berbice yesterday, Tuesday November 22, 2016.

    Dead is Roopnarine Harrinarine, 44 years of Kilcoy Squatting Area, Corentyne.

    News Room understands that Harrinarine was an alcoholic and was last seen alive by family members on the morning of Monday November 21,2016.

    According to information reaching the News Room, the deceased would usually frequent the abandoned building whenever he consumed alcohol and it was a norm for him to stay away from family members.

    A police source told this publication that the man was found in one of the rooms of the building with a bed sheet tied to his neck and hanging from the ceiling. The source confirmed that at the time there were no marks of violence on the man’s body which was removed and taken to the Port Mourant Public Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

    Harrinarine’s body is presently at the Ramoo’s Funeral Home awaiting a post mortem.

    Investigations are ongoing.
