Two males arrested for possession of illegal firearm

Two males were this afternoon arrested in connection with the discovery of an unlicensed semi-automatic pistol in one of their East La Penitence homes by ranks of the Guyana Police Force.

Police ranks acting on information received, went to a 52 years old vendor’s home at East La Penitence Squatting Area, and conducted a search in his presence, during which the illegal weapon was found.

The suspect alleged that it was given to him by a cousin, who when contacted admitted same and was arrested.

A Ballistic test will be conducted to determine if the weapon was used in the commission of any crime.

The investigation continues.
