The opposition, Peoples Progressive Party (PPP) is calling for more tax-free dollars to be given to the working class. The party believes that appreciation must be shown to those who have toiled throughout the year.

General Secretary of the PPP, Clement Rohee is urging the government to re-instate the end of year bonus that their government while in office would have awarded the joint services and ranks of the Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU). He was at the time speaking at this week’s media briefing.

According to Rohee, this Christmas bonus was tax-free and given the praise these ranks would have received throughout the year from the administration, there is no doubt that they are deserving of this payout

Added to this the PPP is also calling for payment of the annual production incentive for sugar workers and an increase on the $50,000 end of year Christmas bonus to all public servants.

“Public servants must stand in solidarity with sugar workers and the Joint Services must stand in solidarity with public servants and sugar workers, all of whom toil year in year out, either in the services or the productive sector and who deserve a bigger and better slice of the National Cake so as to improve their daily livelihoods” Rohee said.
