A West Coast Berbice man has been arrested by ranks of the Fort Wellington Police station after he failed to report the death of his wife who passed away on Thursday, November 24, 2016, after she complained of having pains in her body.

Dead is 46-year-old Bhajmattie Sain, a housewife of Lot 1265 Waterloo, Bath Settlement, West Coast Berbice (W.C.B).

An investigation  was launched after the woman’s reputed husband, carpenter 46-year-old Marvin Ramphal turned up on Monday, November 29, 2016, to make a report.

Ramphal told investigators that about 20:45 hours on the day of the woman’s death, she took ill and was crying out for pain and as a result, he hired a taxi and took her to the Fort Wellington Public Hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

News Room was told that several persons including the woman’s two teen daughters were taken into custody for questioning after doctors found discoloration on the woman’s back which is believed to be inflicted from a hit.

The body is presently at the Anthony’s Funeral Home awaiting a post mortem.

Meanwhile, the police have since kept Ramphal in custody as they continue their investigations into the matter.
