Man killed in crash after dropping wife at airport

A man was this morning killed on the spot after the vehicle he was driving slammed into a parked lorry on the Soesdyke Public Road at about 5:00hrs this morning.

33-year-old Herman David was the only occupant of the Vehicle at the time of the accident.

According to information reaching the News Room, David was heading back to the city after dropping his wife off at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA).

A source who saw when the man dropped off the woman recalled that she kissed him and told him to take his time on his way back to the city.

Police are suggesting that the man was speeding at the time of the accident and may have fallen asleep at the wheel since entire car has been written off (totalled)

The vehicle PTT 9168, a Premio motorcar, connected to the rear of the lorry; GKK 2143 which was parked on the shoulder of the road according to one senior police source.

As a result of the impact David was flung out of his vehicle through the front windscreen. He was rushed to the Diamond Diagnostic Centre and was pronounced dead on arrival. The body is presently at the Lyken’s Funeral Home awaiting a post-mortem examination.

The investigation into the accident is ongoing.
