Yadram brothers lead Enterprise A to title

Siblings Kamesh and Bhaskar Yadram were outstanding on Sunday as they led Enterprise A team to title honours in a four-team, fund-raising cricket competition organised by the Enterprise Busta Sports Club.

Playing in the final against Cotton Tree Die Hard, Enterprise A emerged with a 41-run win in a high-scoring T20 match. Batting first, Enterprise A piled on 197-5 off the allotted overs with Kamesh Yadram leading the way with a masterful 83.

The left-hander’s innings included six fours and two sixes. He received solid support from opener Arif Habib, who made 29 (2x4s, 2x6s), and youth player Vivian Albert, who scored 23 (1×4, 1×6).

Cotton Tree Die Hard, in reply, fell short at 156-8 with Pooran Persaud hitting five fours and six sixes in a topscore of 64. Jagdeo Persaud and Avinash Sewkaran chipped in with 20 and 18 respectively.

Bowling for Enterprise A, Bhaskar Yadram claimed 3-19 off four overs, while Chatterpaul Singh bagged 2-42, also off four overs.

Earlier in the day, Enterprise A and Cotton Tree Die Hard won their virtual semi-final games to advance to the final.

Enterprise A defeated Mahaica Sports Club by 41 runs in a 10-over contest. Led by Bhaskar Yadram’s 51 (3x4s, 3x6s), Enterprise A posted 129-6. Habib and Kamesh Yadram made 20 apiece, while Rohan Mangal scored 17.

K. Fraser took 3-34 off two overs for Mahaica Sports Club, who reached 88-9 when the overs finished. P. Chowti (18) and K. Fraser (15) were the leading scorers, as Kamesh Yadram (3-6), Bhaskar Yadram (3-13) and Singh (2-12) were the wicket-takers.

Cotton Tree Die Hard got the better of Lusignan Sports Club by 48 runs in their 12-over encounter. Led by Pooran Persaud’s stroke-filled 80 (8x4s, 6x6s), Cotton Tree Die Hard raced to 148-6. Abdul Subhan made 31 (6x4s), while Emran Khan claimed 2-29 for Lusignan Sports Club, who were limited to 99-6 in reply.

R. Gopaul led the way with 28, while Roshan Gafoor, Waqar Hassan and Subhan took two wickets each.

The Enterprise Busta Sports Club would like to thank Cotton Tree Die Hard, Mahaica Sports Club and Lusignan Sports Club, as well as the spectators for making the one-day event a success.
