Diaspora throws support behind Enmore Community Centre
The Enmore Association- Toronto Chapter recently made a generous monetary donation to the Enmore Community Centre, in care of Chairman Desmond Mohamed.
This donation was made towards the purchasing of one drive-on 48-inch blade lawn mower to assist in the maintenance of the Community Centre ground, East Coast Demerara.
In the past, the ground and the facilities were maintained by Enmore Estates Limited, the legal owners, but due to financial hardships they were/are unable to continue this much needed maintenance.
Over the past three years the cost of maintenance of the ground has been a financial burden to the club, due to the high cost of rental of machines to keep the ground in acceptable condition.
Kumar Ramotar, who made the donation on behalf of the group, indicated that the overseas-based group has been following the progress made by Council that manages the activities at the facility and despite the challenges faced, the group is pleased with the progress made over the years.
Chairman of the Enmore Community Centre Council, Desmond Mohamed, thanked the group and further indicated that the contribution made is very timely and will go a long way towards the purchasing of the grass cutting machine.
Meanwhile, Ramotar donated a set of cricket equipment to the Enmore Community Centre Cricket Club in his personal capacity.
Ramotar has consistently contributed towards the progress of the Club over the years. Chairman of the Club Taajnauth Jadunauth thanked Ramotar and expressed his appreciation on behalf of the Cricket Club whilst presenting a plaque in recognition of his (Ramotar) contribution.
