Females robbed of handbags at Cummings Lodge

Ranks of the Guyana Police Force are currently reviewing CCTV footage in an effort to apprehend a suspect who robbed two females of their handbags containing cash and valuables on Thursday night.

The incident occurred at about 20:30hrs. at Cummings Lodge, East Coast Demerara (E.C.D).

Enquiries disclosed that the women were visiting a relative and on arrival, a silver-coloured Toyota motor car pulled up and a suspect exited the vehicle, brandished a firearm and relieved the women of the said articles.

A relative, who witnessed the incident on his CCTV, armed himself with his licensed firearm and fired several rounds at the bandit, who hastily re-joined the motor vehicle and made good his escape, seemingly unhurt, the police said.

Investigators are currently reviewing the CCTV footage in an effort to identify the suspect.

No arrest has yet been made.
