No fatalities in East Bank smash up

The Guyana Police Force’s Traffic Department is investigating a serious accident that occurred just after 7:00 this morning at Herstelling East Bank Demerara between a route 42 minibus and a truck.

The injured passengers have been identified as 34-year-old Travis Polard who is a Guyana Defence Force Corporal of Anna Catherina and 50-year-old Shelly Thompson of Timehri East Bank Demerara. Polard was treated and is presently at the Diamond Diagnostic Centre while Thompson was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital as her condition was deteriorating.

News Room understands that minibus BTT 8079 driven by Devindra Ragoo was trying to overtake another minibus which was putting off passengers at the time and ended up the path of the motor lorry GVV 6306 which was following closely behind.

More details on the accident will be provided as it becomes available.

Investigations are ongoing.
